Explanation of why One Candidate was Chosen over the other
John is the applicant who secured the job position while Mary is one of the applicants that did not. Although John and Mary had similar educational achievements, John was selected as he had better interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills. Also, his level of experience was much higher and possessed a better understanding of the position at hand. Consecutively, John was more likable compared to Mary. Another reason Mary was not selected was her inability to accurately answer the interview questions. John answered the questions in a precise manner thus securing the job. Consecutively, Mary did not have a good relationship with her colleagues in her former job. When a phone call was made to her former employer, it was evident that Mary was often rude and unsupportive to her colleagues. Employees who work for our company are required to be polite to all stakeholders and also support colleagues when needed to. John’s former employer provided very positive feedback about his performance and this aspect was very impressive. It was clear that John had a cordial relationship with other employees, customers, and managers alike. Such traits are very attractive to recruiters.
